Direct Integrated Transportation, a multi-disciplined service provider to the transportation and distribution industry was established in 1946 as a dray and transfer company. During its sixty-year history, Direct Integrated Transportation has become a diversified service leader in the transportation industry throughout Western Canada. Headquartered in Winnipeg, the company has various branch operations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and Northwestern Ontario.
As an asset based logistics provider, Direct Integrated Transportation delivers customized solutions for the transportation and distribution marketplace. The core activities include providing turnkey fleet applications (Direct Transport) along with general cartage programs for city and highway applications. To support these services, Direct Integrated Transportation has full service distribution facilities (Direct Distribution) in all major Western Canadian marketplaces providing sophisticated order fulfillment as well as general warehousing applications such as cross dock and multimodal consolidation and deconsolidation.
In March 2006 Direct Integrated Transportation merged with Canada Cartage Systems, a major provider of contract dedicated fleet services in the Greater Toronto Area since 1914. Canada Cartage Systems operates one of the largest fleets of company owned vehicles and on-staff drivers in Canada.
The company is now known as Canada Cartage Diversified GP Inc. (CCD) and provides a national logistics solution under three primary business units: Canada Cartage Systems, Direct Integrated Transportation, and Sonar Transport. CCD offers a number of transportation services including dedicated trucking, warehousing and distribution, general cartage, logistics and moving services.
As a national provider, Canada Cartage Diversified operates a fleet of over 3,300 trucks and trailers and has more than 900,000 square feet in distribution and warehousing space in 23 facilities across Canada.
